Q Theatre
Q Theatre Productions was born in January 1999, when five college students decided
to have a theatre banner of their own. Nadir Khan, Yuki Ellias, Arghya Lahiri,
Advait Hazarat and Q have since added Karl Alphonso, Toral Shah and Christopher Samuel
to the ranks.
Formed to make theatre more accessible to the youth as well as raise the
declining standards of performance art, QTP have tried to unearth and train
young and fresh talent. A database of young actors, ensures that QTP is constantly
promoting youngsters to plays, serials and movies.
A unique modus operandi, the group functions by loaning out its core members to various
productions. All that is learned is applied to their own productions. This method
allows the group to constantly evolve and bring new ideas and theories to their plays.
The range of theatre activity that the group has covered is wide and varied. From their first
full scale play, The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail (1999) to play readings to platform
performances to even launching events, the group has come a long way. In December of
1999, they organised Thespo’99, a youth theatre festival held, under the auspices of
Theatre Group Bombay, and thereby proved themselves as able Event Managers. Dance
recitals, awards ceremonies and auctions have all been stage managed by this young
group.
All My Sons is their first ‘professional’ theatre venture. With it they hope to
showcase some fine young actors, and provide a melting pot where youth and experience
can combine to produce great theatre. Whether they have succeeded or not..the
decision is yours.
