EXCERPTS FROM NEWSPAPERS
Nandita Puri exhibits a natural flair
Central to the world of kathak is the incisive fractionalization of
footwork woven around the basic tala - a tapestry of rhythm. The pure abhinaya
shown requires a finesse and depth that takes years of maturity to achieve.
A raised eyebrow, the tilt of the shoulder, the power of grace and the sharp
resonance of the feet answering the tabla and bols - these fuse to create its
totality. The rhythm must flow in cadences of grace.
Nandita Puri brought a degree of charm to the architectonics of the Jaipur
Gharana. She is poised, has a centered dignity in her movement, a degree of
gambhira that is surprising at this young age.
Her chakkars, jumps and general tatkar (achieved an appealing finesse)
showed an agility and natural flair for the dance form.
Nandita has a neat delicacy of lyrical movement.

enough to justify the mutual interdependence of instrument, rhythm, and
