“ I have always wanted to do radio, simply because I love anything to do with music”. Says Asif. Having grown up in a time when radio was the only means of home entertainment, he used to listen to the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Voice of America, BBC, Radio Kuwait and of course All India Radio. He auditioned at All India Radio’s FM 107.1 years ago and was immediately assigned a spot to himself every Sunday. In his program “The Sunday edition of Moods & Melodies” he caters to lovers of mere serious, classic music than just the current charts. “There is enough people doing that stuff anyway”, he justifies. He likes doing theme shows, for instance his featured Only black, Rain, 70’s Disco, Money, Dreams peace and various other themes where all the songs he plays are connected to the title. He also does another slot on Friday called "The Record Breaker Show".

As plans loom up for FM radio to be privatized, Asif hopes to be doing more of it in the future thereby sharing his joy and knowledge of music with as many as he can.
