v really miss the queen of melody alka yagnik but i think she z doing good by keping away from the low standard music now a days.... all that we get 2 hear is noise...or some off sur simple soft songs by overrated singers like shreya. its ridiculous.....alkaji is a legend...she is doing gud by singing only quality music.:)

Alka Yagnik is Right
by Ulfat on Mar 10 2009 11:15AM (IST)
Hi to all! Alka Yagnik is right.Listen to anu Malik's songs from his movies like "Mai Khiladi tu Anadi","Baazigar","NaJaayza","Border","Refujee","Ish vishk Pyar Vyaar" and then listen songs of anu malik from movies of years "2007" and onwards. You will feel a clear difference of melodious songs.I am not blaming anu malik but remembering anu malik of 1990 -- 2003.And same is for other music directors Like "Rajesh Roshan","Jatin Lalit",Anand Milind and etc.they have been changed. Now-a-days songs are not melodious as said by Alka. Only Nadeem-Shravan remained melodious till the end like Laxmikant-Pyarelal. How can you compare "Sunidhi Chouhan","Shreya Ghoshal" and other new singers to Alka.Alka is superior to all of those singers.Anuradha,Kavita and Sadhana still have the voice which fits for new heroines but the songs of these days are not so good and it is true that these singers would have to be "choosy" if songs are "vulgar". Once Kumar Sanu said in his interview that "I cannot sing the songs which are offered to me in this age". And in my opinion the singers of this age are not talented then "Kumar Sanu", :Udit", "Abhijeet".But the songs and music has been changed in such a way that these singers have become "choosy". I often hear the songs of "Saajan","Raja Hindustani","Dhadkan" ,"DWDLJG","BORDER", and many more from wans, buses,Rickshaws, cars, hotels, bazaars and other places.but seldom hear a song of a new film. "Melody has been ceased". Alka is Right. Regards Ulfat.

Remember the old Sour Grape Story
by Shaheen on Feb 19 2009 8:33PM (IST)
Its very sad to see an artist of such caliber is not used well in the todays music scenario. But its more sad that she is not aware of soulful compositions of MDs like A R Rahman in Dilli6 or SDM...

by dont you love the irony on Feb 19 2009 5:22PM (IST)
when someone says 'things aren't the way they used to be'...you definitely know they're old news and bored to death at home. second, so what if music isn't as melodious as before, are you willing to experiment vocally as music makers are experimenting with their compositions. if the answer is no then stfu and continue singing the songs which are limited to your so called 'respectful standards'. i like talented people, but totally hate them when they act so full of it (aka alka).

this is pitiful
by wtf? on Feb 19 2009 5:15PM (IST)
first and foremost, i agree alka yagnik is a fantastic singer, but why the hell are you talking about? she says she's being selective in her work...i say the industry is being selective and keeping her out. she obviously doesn't possess the versatility that younger singers have. and for the idiot speaking of respect above, its not very respectful when you're calling singers who possess talent which you dont to be "vulgar". you're not the queen of singing alka, we never made you feel bad that you aren't getting many songs, but we might start if you continue this sad pity party of yours. who knows, you just might be playback singing for women over 40...hopefully that will give her some work and mute this non sense she utters.

yeah indeed we miss you alka.......... in a way its good that alka does not form part of the music of today... otherwise she would have lost the respect she got in the eyes of many..... come back with a vengeance as said before
