SALAAM INDIA, a play inspired by diplomat writer Pavan K. Varma's very well received book, Being Indian (Penguin, 2004), is about how India is at a turning point of sorts, with its people stepping confidently out of the past into a modern, globalised world. With their cultural moorings in place and pride in their own identity, they have been able to adapt to changed times.
