Bangalore based Ajay Krishnan made an interesting debut with BUTTER & MASHED BANANAS in 2006. He is back with a newly devised theatre piece called HAIR. The play will open at the NCPA Experimental theatre on 6th June 2008.

Synopsis:

HAIR looks at the darker side of the world of the fairytale Rapunzel. The story is well known- a baby girl is imprisoned in a tower by a wicked witch. She grows up to be a beautiful young woman with long, flowing hair. Things look pretty hopeless for her until one day, a handsome young prince walks into her life. What the medium of the fairytale doesn't tell us is how these characters spoke, behaved, and most of all, what made them do the things they did. HAIR attempts to explore these questions, leading up to an ending that is not quite happily ever after.
