MTG editorial
Q Theatre Productions (QTP) presents its political satire-cum-farce-cum-light comedy, President Is Coming (PIC). Modeled to reflect the India of today, PIC shows on Saturday, 21st June at 7pm & Sunday, 22nd June at 6:30pm at the NCPA Experimental Theatre. PIC is set in the American Consulate a day before President Bush's arrival in India when he wants to meet young faces shaping "the new India". Six leading Indian achievers under 30 are short listed to do tests on trivia, situational acting, talent, physical etc. and one winner earns the right to a handshake with The President. Through laughter, torn alliances, open betrayals, pleasures, deceptions, sacrifices, cash, lies, histories, unwritten contracts and revealed secrets, one person will emerge as the deserving one to meet the Leader of the Free World. This comedy explores the dog-eat-dog world of constant competition, reality television and short-lived fame, a world where six ambitious young Indians will stop at nothing because… THE PRESIDENT IS COMING. Cast includes Ratnabali Bhattacharjee and Shivani Tanksale as PR Executives, Namit Das as a Microsoft programmer, Anand Tiwari as a nervous stockbroker, and Choiti Ghosh as a novelist, Satchit Puranik as an IIM grad rural development expert, Vivek Gomber as CEO of an American accent training academy, Ira Dubey as a lipstick entrepreneur, and Anup Burte as a guard.
QTP's PRESIDENT IS COMING is written by Anuvab Pal and directed by Kunaal Roy Kapur. Tickets are available at the venue.
