Here’s your last chance to catch Q Theatre Productions’ PROJECT S.T.R.I.P., a comic satire written by Ram Ganesh Kamatham and directed by Quasar Thakore Padamsee.

Dates: 3rd, 4th, 5th July 2009

Venue: NCPA Experimental Theatre

Time: 7:00 pm

Quasar Thakore Padamsee is known for his productions such as The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail (1999), All My Sons(2000-01), Minorities (2002), Acid (2004), Kindertransport (2004), which dealt with contemporary social issues and exhibited a strong commitment to experimentation with form and design. He returns to directing after spending three years as Assistant Director on The Midsummer Night’s Dream (2006-08) which opened in India and toured the UK, Italy, Australia, the USA and Canada.

Quasar says, “For the first time we have applied a laboratory style process to working on a play. The writer, designers, actors all are resources out of which the story and play has emerged. This way of working, we hope has resulted in an incredibly intense, honest and bizarrely funny piece of theatre. We had a good time creating it, and I’m sure the audience will have good time receiving it.”

The task was to create a humorous narrative that brought to life the critical aspect of development to an average urban English theatregoer. Ram Ganesh Kamatham is a prolific playwright whose works include Crab (2007), Square Root of Minus One (2002), The Dead Metaphor (2001) amongst others. He has also collaborated with the Royal Court Young Writers Programme and the BBC.

Ram believes that, “The aspiration of Project S.T.R.I.P. is to produce an insightful, relevant and meaningful dramatic performance that provokes thought while entertaining the audience.”
