Agree with Vin, totally !!

Vin : u took the words outta my mouth !! AVOID 1-888.. AT ALL COSTS, PEOPLE !! Supposed to b a satire on hedonistic, opportunistic corporate India and obsession with outsourcing !! Turns out 2b neither that or absurdist !! Has a loutish, sexist corporate honcho RAvi Gupta with his new business model and his two employees, one who comes with call-centre experience and yet cant get the accent right - the other has a whacked-out sister od-ing on the web. Strangely, a firang nun is called in for accent-training - why ? no explanation. For all the yak!yak! that ravi Gupta does abt "new India" thruout the play, v eeriely occupying pride of place in the play is "pole-dancing" -- really, did the playwright OD on TimeOut Mumbai ????
& who would discuss business models, let alone part with money with such a boor as Ravi Gupta - representing the New India, really Mr Playwright ?
And the set design does nothing to evoke a real call centre work environ - the backdrop in orange with white rays across it - slide projection thereon either cut off by furniture shadows or barely discernible.
I didnt even bother to clap when the cast tooke their curtain call. I believe it was "groupies" who actally gave a standing ovation and woo-hoo-ing away was Raell herself and mayb one of her crew ! Really, now !!!

Why is the producer of this play not in the list of credits?? Is he playing safe if the play bombs??

Not in list of credits
by Mehernosh Bharucha on Jul 7 2009 3:51PM (IST)
If u'v read the preview write-ups, u will realise it is Raell Padamsee who produced this play. I believe on the program of the play (which I tore up in disgut as I walked out after the play) it is listed as RAELL PADAMSEE's ACE PRDUCTIONS Presents 1-888-Dial-India - wot's left to say abt bombing or not of the play when Opening Night wasnt even houseful ?
