This comedy revolves around a family of four - consisting of the father, Mr. Lachoomal Advani; his wife Mrs Pinky Advani and their two sons Avinash Advani and Bhushan (Buddy) Advani. The father has a Wax Fruit making company and his two sons work with him. Sounds like the perfect ‘Fairy Tale’ family, doesn’t it? But that is far from the truth.
So what’s the problem that has shaken this family? Well that’s just where the story begins . The elder son Avinash (Bakhtyaar Irani) has always been the black sheep of the family; a bit of a Casanova who loves the good life. He lives away from home as that suits his ‘routine’ better. He still works at the office though – but only when he is ‘free’ from his real work of ‘partying’ and ‘disco–dancing.’
The father (Sandip Sikcand) is a very strict , sarcastic, old fashioned and cantankerous human being who refers to his older son Avi as a ‘BUM’ because according to him anyone who is not married is definitely one. He on the other hand has a high regard for Buddy , the younger son (Karan Mehra) who is slightly on the dumb side, is shy of girls, has awkward mannerisms, never drinks, never parties and has always lived as per his father’s commands .
All this however changes when Buddy too leaves home & his family business as he wishes to be a writer. How did all this surface suddenly considering Buddy is so timid? Naturally because their father is very dominating, rigid, never listens to anyone and hasn’t changed with the times. The poor mother (Tanaaz Irani) is caught in the middle of this cross-fire.
Then there is Ayesha Sharma (Kishwar Merchant ), Avi’s love interest and Reema Dalal (Nisha Sareen) who is a struggling actress and lives in the same building as Avi does. She always enters his house in a different costume and plays a different personality. All this adds more to the confusion in the already puzzled state of affairs in Avi’s house . The theme of DADDY KOOL is about the perennial problem of Father v/s Son and of old ideas v/s new ones. Will the Advani family be able to resolve it?
