By MTG editorial

This play is based on the short story written by Vijay Tendulkar. This is the story of a common man who has maintained his hobby of writing. His writing is strictly limited to himself and nothing of his has been published except for few letters in local newspapers. The protagonist of the play has just completed seventy-four years. After the death of his wife, he realizes that life is a terminal disease. Loneliness persuades him to write and he thus writes about himself, his family members but mainly focuses on the social, political environment of society such as corruption, violence, changes in the value system, about relationships, sex, etc.

While stating his views, the man plays an impartial role as an umpire and he holds his own generation responsible for the follies committed. Autobiographical in scope, the play thus becomes an account of a very common man who looks at his life like a balance sheet that needs to be tallied.
