The multiple new releases, Irrfan Khan’s road trip movie KARWAAN, the hard hitting Anubhav Sinha directed Rishi-Taapsee starrer MULK and T-Series’ Anil, Aishwarya and Rajkummar Rao starrer triumph of the underdog venture FANNEY KHAN, cut into each other, as is the norm. The front runner turned out to be the Rishi-Taapsee starrer, MULK (12-15 percent), followed by Irrfan Khan’s KARWAAN (10-12 percent) with T-Series’ FANNEY KHAN, in hot pursuit, if one may say so!

As things stand, the best outcome awaits MULK due to the positive reviews and audience feedback, followed by KARWAAN (banking on Irrfan’s discerning audience) and FANNEY KHAN promoting the cause of the underdog. Having said that, it was Tom Cruise’s hit MISSION : IMPOSSIBLE- FALLOUT (MI 6), which saw the best day ( amongst all the movies) at the box-office, even on it’s second Friday. Just for the records MI6 netted 55 crore during the opening week from India!

Meanwhile, Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Sanjay Dutt, Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill starrer SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER 3 saw a very ordinary opening week netting 8 crore and the film will find it difficult to be even a coverage fare.

Concluding with Dharma Production’s Shashank Khaitan directed Ishaan and Janhvi starrer DHADAK, the film saw a big fall in collections in the follow up week as it could just muster around 17.50 crore (to be validated), thus netting 69 crore in two weeks from India and is a hit fare. And we are not even talking about the $2.50m (already in!) in two weeks from the overseas.
