Nityami Shirke: I am not as dumb as my on-screen character!

Alt Balaji’s latest web series ‘PM Selfiewallie’ has been loved by many, starring newbie Nityami Shirke who made her debut in entertainment arena with Balaji’s web series entering Balaji camp.

In the show Nityami plays a dumb struck fashionista who knows nothing about the world. She has her own life and is happy about it, her GK is poor. How she gets to India and become the PM of India and does work her way is quirky and funny to watch, in the show Tanya (Nityami) is the hastag generation.

In an exclusive conversation with Nityami, she spoke about her contrasting persona in real life and how did acting happen to her.

“Well, it’s really amazing and I am happy with the response of the first three episodes that have been aired on web. I am glad I didn’t expect this would happen. I would like to thank everyone is liking ‘PM Selfiewallie’. In fact it was fun shooting, I would laugh may a times while enacting certain scenes. She is funny, quirky and full of madness,” said an elated Nityami.

When asked her how did she bag this role, to which she said, “I just somehow happen to get it I was just with my friends and the casting person just saw me and they liked my face so I just sent my pictures to them and then went for audition and this is how I was through. However, I wasn’t inclined towards acting ever. It just happened and now I would want to work in the industry. Although I don’t know what’s in store for me I will wait for the next one. I am a neuroscience student, I have studied psychology and would be something in that zone or may be a nutritionist, but now I can say I can get into acting with the response of ‘Selfiewallie’.”

On being asked how similar is she to the on-screen role that’s she is essaying, quipped Nityami, “ I am not such a fashionista, nor am I as dumb as she is, I am not as a social media person nor do I belong to so much of hastag generation but it was fun playing her.”

As Ekta Kapoor is very particular about her actors and meticulously sees everything after the output to which Nityami said, “I haven’t met her in person but as far as the reviews are concerned I think she quite likes my performance and that certainly makes me glad.”

Lastly when asked her which actor has inspired her and would want to share screen space she promptly said, “Priyanka Chopra is one actor I would love to share screen space with and I love watching Varun Dhawan.”
