Megastar Rajnikanth’s KAALA, KARIKALAN (dubbed) saw a fair opening day netting around 1.25 crore, which is well below the superstar’s last releases KABALI (3.50 crore). Having said that, KAALA is not the usual Rajni film, and does not abound in style and gimmicks.
On the other hand, Hollywood’s JURASSIC WORLD : FALLEN KINGDOM saw a decent opening day (6 crore) which is somewhat of a disappointment given the brand JURASSIC.
While both the Thursday releases, KAALA, KARIKALAN (dubbed) and JURASSIC WORLD : FALLEN KINGDOM, have under-performed, one cannot ignore the fact that Salman’s Eid release RACE 3 is just a week away and the audience is more keen on checking it out.
Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor Film Company and Balaji Telefilms Ltd’s Kareena, Sonam, Swara and Shikha starrer VEERE DI WEDDING saw a great opening week netting 54 crore (to be validated) and is a semi-hit that can still up the ante and get to a hit status.
Concluding with John Abraham’s PARMANU-THE STORY OF POKHRAN, the film added another 12.50 crore thus netting 48.50 crore (to be validated) in two weeks from India and may end up as a semi-hit , provided it can add decently to its total before RACE 3 sets in.
