I never interfere on who acts opposite me– Emraan Hashmi
Joginder Tuteja, Bollywood Trade News Network
Emraan Hashmi has been practically romancing with a different girl in most of his films. Though he had acted with Geeta Basra earlier in DIL DIYA HAI, he pairs up with Sayali Bhagat as well in this week’s release THE TRAIN. Here he tells Joginder Tuteja about his experience while working with the two new girls and how he prefers not to interfere in the casting of his films.
As told by Emraan Hashmi: In spite of being in the industry for quite some time and seeing good success, I feel just the same as I did when I had entered the industry. This should always be the way one should conduct himself. I don’t come with a baggage of stardom because it is all so unnecessary.
Working with relative newcomers like Geeta Basra and Sayali Bhagat is always fun because you learn a lot from such people. There is certain rawness about the way such newcomers act which looks quite good on screen. It only makes me remember that even I was a newcomer once. Working with them makes one learn more about cinema as they help you improvise on your own performance along with certain spontaneity coming in the way you act in front of the camera.
To add more about Geeta and Sayali, they both are quite bright. Moreover they are quite pretty with an intrinsic charm about them. Nevertheless, with them I never ever thought of myself to be a relatively senior actor who was established in the industry. That never helps anyone since it is always the script that is above anything else.
For me, I have never thought or interfered about who acts opposite me. I did the same for THE TRAIN without thinking for a second that Geeta and Sayali had just entered the industry. I prefer to leave it to the film’s directors and instead chill out while giving my best shot to a film.
Producer of THE TRAIN, Mr. Shyam Bajaj and Mr. Narendra Bajaj, are like family to me. I have worked with them earlier in AKSAR, which was a god success. They are extremely nice people and know the kind of subjects they have to work on and the way to bring them in the market. Even with THE TRAIN, it was irresistible to even think twice before signing it since the concept was so good.
No, the film is not just about infidelity, as some people like to believe. It has various shades to it, more prominent being the story about a family with good drama and thrills running alongside. Moreover music plays an important role too.
As we all are aware, Mithoon and Sayeed Quadri bhai have come up with series of chartbusters for the film. We always knew that songs like ‘Woh Ajnabee’ and ‘Teri Tamanna’ would be big hits though it is heartening to see ‘Mausam’ and ‘Beete Lamhein’ to be so popular as well. Still, I can’t help but play on ‘Woh Ajnabee’ in a repeat mode in my car. Mithoon and Quadri bhai are so intelligent in their compositions; they know how to get the sensitive mood on even while working within commercial realms.
]Coming to the film’s directors Hasnain and Raksha, they are two of the sharpest minds that we have in the industry today. This is why it was nothing but a shock for all of us when THE KILLER didn’t work too well at the box office. Anyways, we got solace from the fact that no one at least came forward and said that it was a badly made film. I guess we were plain unlucky from box office perspective. Nevertheless, I am still quite confident about my directors and have good conviction and faith in them. I strongly believe that they have it in them to deliver and I have all the good reasons to believe that THE TRAIN would be their calling card.
