There is a hackneyed view revolving around the films that they have a debilitating influence on the society and have little to contribute towards the betterment of the society. It is however a clichéd concept. Take for example LAGE RAHO MUNNA BHAI. The way it has redefined Mahatma Gandhi in just a year has not been achieved by all the other efforts to popularize the memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The way Gandhiji is remembered on his birthday all across the country has more to do with refreshing the memory of Gandhi in the mind of the average citizens of the country, and the humane manner in which it has been constructed is what has facilitated in more neo-converts towards the thoughts and ideals of Gandhiji.

This is what is known as Innovation. Innovation in substance is revisiting the world views according to the moods of the times and positioning it within the broad contours of the times in which the process is taking place. It is sort of redefining the existence of knowledge by giving a fresh perspective to the existing norms and to recreate it by striving for the self-renewal as it happened decisively with Sanjay Dutt as also giving a new respect to the organization which is injecting this innovation in this case it being the production company of Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who by the innovative approach to Gandhi has been able to spread the name world wide on such a large scale which he could never do it before.

In the present times this streak of attempting innovation of the ideas lying in dormancy was practiced by Rakeish Mehra through RANG DE BASANTI. The streak of innovation that he unleashed through RDB all across the country and gave a rallying point for the people to fight for the causes dear to them is probably the reason that Mehra is still fine tuning the innovativeness to take it to a higher scale and as a result he is flushing oscillating from one star or the other to find the face for his new venture DELHI 06.

The master of innovation of this kind in the real sense of terms was V Shantaram who unleashed such an oeuvre of innovativeness on a continuous basis that whenever he was making a film it was always waited for anxiously. DO AANKHEN BARAH HAATH was a film from his stable which is the best example of making the innovation stand on his head. There might be other such innovators in the arty film arena but in the commercial arena it was V Shantaram who was a pioneer.

Innovation in context of films is always appreciated when it harps on delivering a message of social importance as it's under current. This is what makes the film stand out and counted as legends. Hollywood does this repeatedly on a very regular basis, and this is the reason why it is relished all over the world. When the streak of innovativeness loses novelty in terms of its appearance in a sporadic manner as it is now with the Hindi films, then Hindi films would also become the cynosure of the eyes all over the world.
