Bulla Ki Jaana's Rabbi has decided to choose the world of web casting to release his new album Avengi Je Nahi. Probably for the first time a non-film category music album is being released through a web cast and that too through web site of a newspaper. Is it a moment worth savoring for the music aficionados?
The development indeed is a magic moment. With the time being a precious commodity and the singers finding it difficult for them to promote themselves through concerts, the promotion in the form of web casts through the websites, more so of the newspapers is an interesting development. The quotient of interest lies in the fact that there are websites dedicated to music which are promoting these events for quite a long time, but when a newspaper steps into this arena, more so a business newspaper then it indeed is a moment of triumph for technology. It has always been brandied that technology may sound the death knell for promotion of concerts, but technology has leveraged its tools to bring the concert on the desk top of the fan of music. As a trend this is an interesting phase for the music industry of Hindi pop genre as here is a singer who is sticking his neck out and releasing his work through a web cast. It is a kind of risk that the music composer is taking for his work, as he is giving the listener the taste of his new composition. Once the process of indoctrination is completed, the music lover may be invited to download the music and make it a part of his collection for a nominal fee.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who has sung the title song for HAAL-E-DIL had during the course of an interview confidently said that the young generation should be exposed to the wonders of the classical music and they would adapt it. The step that Rabbi has taken could be a step forward in this direction. The present generation, which can be described, as time-deficient, would love this new paradigm shift in listening to the classic music, as it is now within its control to savor it. May more such examples follow after Rabbi as the title song of his number says, Avengi i.e. will it come?
