It was a clever ploy which has reaped rich dividends for Sony Pictures, when they released the latest bond flick 'QUANTUM OF SOLACE', in India, before it graced the silver screen anywhere else in the world. The collection of Rs. 170 million within a week is an ample testimony to the outreach of the Indian cinema among the fans.
As a matter of fact Hollywood has been slowly but surely started giving priority to India for quite a long time, and its climax has been reached with the release of QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Inspite of pirated versions of the film being sold around the street corner, if the film has been able to manage such humongous collections, then it is a clear indicator about the fact that Hindi film industry has indeed arrived, or is it that India has scaled the summit as far as the fascination of the audience with the entity called entertainment is concerned.
Different players have entered into different kind of collaborations, and owing to these collaborations the established Indian warhorses, which were struggling have got a new lease of life. Yash Raj films is one such example, whose ROADSIDE ROMEO in collaboration with the Warner Brothers has facilitated in providing exposure about cutting edge of technology in animation. No wonder, in the 24 MAS Awards, ROADSIDE ROMEO has bagged the Best Animation Feature Film Award for the year 2008. Jugal Hansraj, keep dreaming and giving more animation films, as it would also open another parallel career for our established film stars to provide voice over, and make the experience of watching an animation film that much more exciting.
The spread and synergy that is being derived from this collaboration is not only relegated to the Hindi films, but it has spread its tentacles, and Tamil film industry has also warmed up to this collaboration.
One only hopes that with this kind of tie-up, the viewing experience also attains a world-class standard, and the same is not relegated only to the metropolitan cities.
