Akshay had two releases during the year CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA and TASVEER, which had an insipid affair at the box office. Lots of expectation is riding on KAMBAKKHT ISHQ.

Among the novelties that the film has is the fact that for the first time Sylvester Stallone is acting in a Hindi film and it should be an attraction for his fans to see the movie. Sylvester Stallone along with Arnold Schwarznegger were two Hollywood stars that started an era of body building in India. KAMBAKKHT ISHQ also marks return of Akshay to action with a vengeance. There is a considered view that Akshay should return back to his forte of action, as comedy is not providing him the expected dividends, and after all it was action that gave him the status that he is in today.

KAMBAKKHT ISHQ would be one of the first films in Hindi cinema having four scriptwriters, but would it be able to deliver the entertainment by pooling in the talent of four writers would be a question worth its weight in gold. It is a new director Sabbir Khan who is directing Akshay and Kareena. The film is based in Hollywood so viewers would have an interesting insight into the manner in which the studios in Hollywood functions. As it has Hollywood as its background, the technical finesse is manifest in the promos and it is slickly shot film. Kareena Kapoor in her new looks is indeed ravishing but would she be able to charm her fans to eat out of her hands, as the pout may appear inviting and enticing initially, but if it is not backed with substance it may become problematic.

As the title of the film KAMBAKKHT ISHQ suggests, it would indeed be a film where clumsy situations would be used as a prop, as it has become the want to help the lead pair fall in love, as these are the situations that give rise to closeness between the two. For both Akshay and Kareena it would indeed be an acid test, and let's hope that it turns out to be a hit which both of them have been waiting for quite a long time.
