When the popular American News magazine had carried a feature on the current US President Barack Obama and had equated him as the man who is the living embodiment of the fictional character from the Star Trek series Spock, even Obama had liked the comparison. One wonders whether Obama would have been aware that the STAR TREK motion picture was around the corner and equating Obama with Spock could have been a marketing ploy to build up an aura around Spock once again.

Those of us who grew around the time in the early eighties when television was still growing in India used to wait in anticipation for the Star Trek on every Sunday must be thrilled to find Spock weaving his magic in a future on the silver screen through STAR TREK, and what a better way to initiate the magic of cinema once again after a protracted strike than through a film which brings about a nostalgic memory from the past. As a matter of fact CNN during the current US elections in which Obama was elected as the US President had achieved the feat of beaming a correspondent from a different place as it was done in STAR TREK TV Series and as it is done in the film STAR TREK throughout.

Interestingly enough, it happens only in Hollywood where a film is converted into a television serial as it was done when STAR TREK was made into movie in 1979 and was followed up by its adoption in the form of a television serial and to keep the interest alive it has again been converted into a full-fledged movie. The hit cinema in Hollywood is treated as a vertical and continuous endeavor is channelized to extract as much profit out of it as could be possible by attempting various innovations associated with the product.

STAR TREK of the present times keeping in with the sensibility of the present times has made Spock more humane who has also been shown as having groomed into an expert in the art of kissing as well.

The spectacle of space is still an area in which Hollywood continues to scale new frontiers and to have a peep into an unknown future STAR TREK of the current times is a must dekko.
