The month of June is already half way through and the rain has not yet made their appearance. Even the famous mango showers of Kerala that hit the coast of Kerala by the end of May are elusive, though they have been a part of cinematic oeuvre for quite a long time, and most evocatively shot by Mani Ratnam, Ravi Chandran etc., in BOMBAY, ROZA etc. Hands are rising in unison praying to the rain god to be benevolent and show mercy, and it indeed is the perfect moment to have a cinematic experience evoking the same theme. It may be either through the film or the songs that evoke the same memory.
This epic film was based on the theme of role of rain in the Indian life, and the fast that Dev Anand did to appease the rain gods made him the saint in the film, and this is how the water is revered in the Hindi films.
