What he could not achieve while being alive, Michael Jackson's film has done it after his death. THIS IS IT which has released today, would be one of the rarest films that would be on in cinema halls only for a fortnight and it seems as a tribute to the cult image that he created for himself, THIS IS IT has already grossed more than $ 20 million in a single day, and it is indeed a monumental record for a film, considering the fact that it is a documentary film that has been made on the significant milestones in Michael Jackson's career.

Michael Jackson indeed was a phenomenon whose fan following transcended the caste, creed, race and country and therefore even at a time when it has been clubbed with two big ticket releases in Hindi, LONDON DREAMS and ALADIN, THIS IS IT has already been sold out for the weekend in the metropolitan cities. It indeed is a phenomenal achievement, manifest from the fact that Michael Jackson's persona has been able to hold its forte against the likes of Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt.

Tools of technology like state of the art digital sound and high definition mode shooting has ensured that the magic of Michael Jackson would indeed continue to endure for generations to come. It is more of nostalgia as it is compilation of footage that was used as a raw stock for Michael Jackson's concert that was to take place in London. May be, when it would have happened, only the crowd at London would have enjoyed it, but now the entire world is simultaneously soaking into the ambience of Jackson at the same time.

THIS IS IT is a labor of love tracing the progress of a phenomenon called Michael Jackson, as people like him walk on this earth once in a lifetime. To be able to see his gravity-defying dance on the silver screen, and to be able to groove to his funky music, is indeed a treat for any Jackson fan over the world. There is a not a single song, that made Jackson into a phenomenon which has not been included in this documentary, and as each songs is interspersed with the quotes and anecdotes from friends and relatives, THIS IS IT becomes more so a personal window into the world of Michael Jackson through his creative aura. For a man who was eating drinking and breathing music right from the time when he was all of six years of age, and continued to do so, till he passed away, there is no better tribute than the release of this documentary. May be, THIS IS IT would also give a new lease of live to documentary film making as well, and they could be released alongside the mainstream films in the cinema halls and vie for the eyeballs and create history. THIS IS IT has already shown the way to do it.
