HOUSEFULL and the curious saga of multiple marriages

Multiple marriages have emerged as a time tested formula for the Indian film makers to bring the audience to the cinema halls. HOUSEFULL seems to be following in the same category where a man in the form of Akshay Kumar would be shown married to three ladies in the form of Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, and Jiah Khan simultaneously and the emergent humor providing the cannon fodder for success at the box office. It is more a theatre of absurd and as it is so, the humor associated with it indeed sets the box office cash registers on fire.

HOUSEFULL provides an opportunity to revisit the films on such themes that have been made in Hindi cinema.



MAANG BHARO SAJNA: Dasari Narayan Rao's film starring Jeetendra and Rekha along with Maushami Chatterjee was the first film that ventured into this area and surprisingly enough it was a big hit. It was also the first film, surprisingly that brought to the world of Indian social fabric the importance of Karva Chauth.
