This Friday after a long long time core Hollywood action of the old school i.e. blazing guns, combat situations and deceit in the form of THE EXPANDABLES and the pathos and suffering of the rural India, a genre that was forgotten by the filmmakers are going to clash at the box office. It is more of a clash between Sylvester Stallone and Aamir Khan as Sylvester Stallone has also directed the movie while Aamir Khan has produced PEEPLI [LIVE].
THE EXPENDABLES and PEEPLI LIVE
For Sylvester Stallone India has been a happy ground right from his ROCKY days as he was the only Hollywood star in all probability whose posters where also seen in the barber shops, before Arnold Schwarzenegger piped him to the post. THE EXPENDABLES is a hard core action film, and it has been so successful world wide that the producers have decided to go-ahead to shoot its sequel as well, though the film is yet to reach the major markets of the world, India being one of those markets.
When one talks about PEEPLI [LIVE], it is being released at a time when whole of the nation is caught in the vice like grip of price inflation and escalation. For the people living in metropolitan cities advent of malls and departmental stores has been able to mitigate the position to a certain extent on account of discounted sales, as the recent Big Bazaar sale, but for the common man living in the hinterland, it is he or she himself who has to contemplate on a daily basis whether he should sell himself to feed his children. It owed primarily to this reason that PEEPLI [LIVE]'s song Mahangai Dayan, is coming in innovative avatars all across the hinterland.
One thing is for sure that the metropolitan audience would be able to identify more with THE EXPENDABLES as it is a surreal reality while PEPLI [LIVE] would find its base among the major part of the folks of the country living in small towns and villages, the real India so to say. It does not mean that PEEPLI [LIVE] would not find its base in metropolitan cities. Indian Ocean the band which has given the music has already created the environment, and the film in all probability could be able to inject life in to the present ruling set up to wake up and realise the ground realities.
