As per the normal convention of the Indian family structure wife of the younger brother seldom comes out in front of the elder brother, but world of Hindi cinema has been an aberration for quite a long time. DABANGG is one more addition to this saga, where Malaika Arora, wife of Salman Khan's younger brother, Arbaaz Khan, serenades Salman through an item number Munni Badnaam Hui in DABANGG. It is one of the raunchiest songs in the recent memory and it has already set the music charts on fire. May be, this item number by Malaika would do for Arbaaz Khan, that other efforts have not done so far. It would also be for the first time in the history of Indian cinema in all probability that a producer is also setting the tone of the film by making her appearance in an item song, as Malaika has done in DABANGG.

Actors working across their normal relationships have been a rather successful pair and Kapoor family has specialized in this trend, and now Khan Family seems to be picking it up. Shashi Kapoor and Babita were a hit pair in score of films and in the same manner Shashi Kapoor and Neetu Singh were also a hit pair, (though in real life Shashi Kapoor is a father-in-law of both Babita and Neetu Kapoor), DEWAAR being a hit example. In the same manner, Randhir Kapoor paired with Neetu Singh in scores of films, KASME WAADE being the most successful example.

However apart from the Kapoor family no other family has worked across relationships to act opposite each other, if one were to discount Ashok Kumar and Madhubala. It was probably the first example of such kind, when both acted against each other in HOWRAH BRIDGE, otherwise the Kapoors' set the tone for such enactments on the silver screen.

The attempt of Malaika underlines the fact that show business is the business that is above all kind of relationships, a fact hat Raj Kapoor used to underline, and one only hope that post DABANGG more such enactments would be seen on the silver screen, and that too without any Badnami.
