Another striking feature of the decade was the dizzying heights to which Katrina Kaif's career rose, and it also was symptomatic of the internationalization of the world of Hindi cinema in a big way. Her success was also a pointer to our fetish for the "gori mem", a notion that continues to be an underlining motif for most of the males in the Indian sub-continent.

If an actor continuously attains the enviable status of being the most searched celebrity across all the search engine options available in the cyber space, then the actor indeed has arrived. Katrina Kaif has become probably the first actor in the Indian film industry who is the most searched across the search engines and has indeed become one of the significant milestones of the decade who needs to be analyzed in detail.

Starting her career with a bust film BOOM produced by Kaizad Gustad in 2003, who spotted her in London, she made her presence felt in a significant way with Ram Kumar Verma's SARKAR. She played the role of a NRI girl friend in SARKAR and has capitalized on the character through most of her films subsequently. It might have been a calculated move or a move by fortuitousness but it has accentuated her image as a "Foreign returned" girl who has walked into the hearts and the minds of the Indian fans, and the people of Indian origin spread all across the globe. It was her third film MAINE PYAAR KYUN KIYA with Salman Khan that got her the Stardust Breakthrough Performance award, and from 2005 Katrina Kaif has not looked back at all.

NAMASTEY LONDON, PARTNER and WELCOME revealed to the public a funny and innocent comic side to her persona and made her more endearing to the aficionados of the Hindi cinema. With SINGH IS KINNG she literally became numero uno female star in the world of Hindi cinema. RACE provided another ability of her acting prowess, being a silent brooding type who could carry lot of menace in her nuance with conviction when it was required.

In 2009 Katrina Kaif attained another significant milestone with a power house of performance in NEW YORK underlining the fact that she is not only glamour but there is a serious actor beneath the veneer. It could have been the catalytic factor for her selection to play the lead role in Raj Kumar Santoshi's coming film RAAJNEETI where she plays the role of a political leader, her first deglamorised role of the career. The flair for comedy was manifest with conviction with AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI that emerged as one of the most successful films for 2009.The pairing with Ranbir Kapoor for this film could indeed emerge as one of the most prominent pairs that could rewrite the success mantra in the new decade that has already commenced.

In the realm of the imaginary world most of the Indian male aspires for a lady who is symptomatic of a mem or the English mem and Katrina Kaif unconsciously fits the description to perfection and as such has been consolidating her position on a regular basis.

Katrina Kaif has been able to carve a niche and made a significant milestone for self in the decade owing to the urbanity of characterizations that she has etched out through her roles, which have endeared the audience all across the country. Her urban characters have endeared the audience owing to the fact that they are symptomatic of the aspirations of the youth of present times, more so the urban female. Instead of portraying a role of vulnerability she has consciously or unconsciously been symptomatic of the new urban and confident India through her characterizations and this could be the reasons for her immense success.
