ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI is another milestone gangster film made in India where the narrative and the binding element of the film is a police officer. Randeep Hooda has got a role of lifetime as a police officer to relive the past of the underbelly of Mumbai as it became battle ground of generational shift in the world of gangsters. It also is one of the apparent paradoxes that narratives of gangsters which have been hit from the past invariably had the film being narrated from the perspective of a police officer, and surprisingly enough all such films have either been super hit at the box office or have won critical acclaim. Incidentally all such films had Mumbai as the background. With ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI just released, here is a rerun of all such films.

The first real gangster film that gave a position of eminence to Iftikhaar who otherwise was languishing in the background, DON gave a new direction to career of Iftikhaar.
