One of the pet peeves of the film fraternity after the advent of Indian Premier League has been that during the fortnight when the IPL frenzy catches the nation, the business of films loses out. Indeed, figures for last two seasons point out to the trend.
With such a background, would LAHORE be able to buck the trend, and be able to magnetize the audience to come to the cinema halls to soak into the ambience of Indo-Pakistan battle in the sports arena? Could the timing of release of LAHORE indeed be opportune? After all, when a nation is caught in the frenzy of a cricket fever, what opportune moment it could turn out to encash the frenzy through another sports, aka kick boxing on the silver screen.

LAHORE has to be something special, a visual treat, a toast for the sports aficionados manifest from the fact that an actor like Farooq Sheikh who has never done a guest role in his life has agreed to be a part of LAHORE based on the nature of content of the film.

The timing of release of LAHORE indeed is opportune as it would be able to draw fans both younger and older. The popularity of the sports of Kickboxing among the youth of the present generation is manifest from the fact that scores of films made by Hollywood on this theme have been immensely successful.

It is also instructive that Warner Brothers have agreed to release the film in India and they have agreed to lend their name as LAHORE boasts of one of the finest technicians, both from Hollywood and Bollywood associated with it. LAHORE is one of the rare films in Hindi that has been conferred with International awards like Best Film at the prestigious 42nd Worldfest, Houston International Film Festival, Best Actor (Aanaahad) at Tenerife International Film Festival (UK), Most Aspiring Film Maker (Sanjay Chauhan) at Filmmakers International Film Festival (UK), Best actor (Aanaahad) at Salento International Film Festival, Italy and had got all the 6 nominations at the Asian festival of First Films, Singapore.

With such an impressive pedigree there indeed is a lot of anticipation for LAHORE and it indeed should be able to meet the expectations of the audience. After all, its director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, who debuts with LAHORE has attained an exalted status of being in the categories of such illustrious peers as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ang Lee, Ridley Scots, Robert Rodriguez, Robert Townsend, Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and David Lynch, who all shot into prominence after their films debuted at WorldFest.
