Barbara Mori apart from being the first Mexican girl to make her debut with the heartthrob of India Hrithik Roshan in KITES, that is being talked about for its hot steaming encounters between herself and Hrithik Roshan would also create a new benchmark in Hindi cinema. She would be the first female actor who is making a debut in Hindi films as a person who already has a son. Incidentally, she gave birth to her son when she was only nineteen years of age, and she is proud of the fact, instead of being shamed about it, as is the general convention.

Earlier to KITES, it has never happened in the world of Hindi cinema that an actor who is making her debut is married and to icing to the cake also has a son to boot. The normal notion of a female actor when she makes her debut in the world of Hindi cinema is that she has to be fresh as dew, with no affairs from the past, and trying to carve an image of a demure virgin lasses. Henceforth after KITES, may be things, would change for female stars in India as well.

After all, what has personal life of an individual got to do with the acting ability and the prowess of an actor? The barriers had been broken in the Hindi film industry among the male stars for quite a long time, but for a female star it still was a taboo. KITES would indeed, one hope, change the norms and the actors of the female kind with their acting abilities should be considered for making debuts in Hindi films as well. But the male stars have to be condescending enough, as it was done by Hrithik Roshan to Barbara Mori in KITES.

Barbara Mori has been advocating that single mothers should come forward and not feel restricted by the archaic norms of the society. Had she on her own volition not announced to the world that she has a son, who would have known about it, at least in India? But she is confident about it and on the eve of Mothers Day, as it was being celebrated, she announced the fact to media, underlining the role of a mother and the pride that she drove from being a mother to her son. May be, as the KITES sours into the minds of the aficionados the idea that Barbara Mori is advocating would sour to the sky like KITES enjoying the caress of the air, and striving to find its own moorings.
