When whole of the world celebrates Krishna Janmashtmi, it is mostly his pranks of the childhood or the love escapades with Radha, his eternal consort that are brought into relief. In the milieu it is forgotten that Lord Krishna was the real maverick, a maverick who by his acts strived to make the world a better place.

It is also one of the underlining motifs of Hindi cinema especially that the characters who have made their mark, have had an element of maverick written around their
portrayal and have successfully enacted the role of Lord Krishna through the score of modern avatars. Mumbai as a city picked up his element of breaking the Handis and every year new maverick ways are tried to scale the summit.

With this being the reference point, it indeed is an opportune moment to try to pick up some characters from the world of Hindi cinema that have the role of a maverick having akin similarities to the persona of Lord Krishna.

Aamir Khan: Right from the time that Aamir Khan made his debut through QAYMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK up to 3 IDIOTS, his cinematic oeuvre has been shot through and thorough with traits of Lord Krishna's mischief and relentless zeal bearing traits of maverick. Besides, the maverick has been such that he has been endearing and has been wowing leading ladies with a mischievous grin. The song from LAGAAN, 'Madhuban mein...' indeed underlines the same ethos. Lord Krishna was the Outlier and the manner in which Aamir Khan has run his career during the last few years; he indeed is the Outlier for the world of Hindi cinema.
