It indeed is one of the apparent paradoxes that when one talks about the teachers' day, one fondly remembers all the teachers who have been the source of inspiration in an individual's journey from nobody to somebody, however nowhere does one talk about the first teacher in a child's life, i.e. the mother. Is mother not the first teacher for a child, who prepares the child to step into the haloed portals of a school, but even the child, forgets or is doctored in such a manner to forget that mother indeed is the first teacher who holds hands of the child and prepares him to graduate into the harsh world?
This being the premise, it would be interesting to search about such films where the role of mothers has been such that it is worthy than that of the teachers.
MOTHER INDIA: The first film that would head the list from this perspective would be MOTHER INDIA where a mother when she observes that her child is going astray and is not adhering to the principals of teaching that she has imparted, is ready to shoot the child as well. Would a teacher have such a conviction to do it with his student, not likely, as a teacher has whole bunch of students to cater to while a mother has two-three children.
