It may be the festive season, or the Maghi Mela time, as they say in Punjab, or the intermittent cold wave that is sweeping Punjab which has paralyzed the activities of the residents of Punjab, but they have risen in unison to give a solid response to their Mundas from the pind for their antics in YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA. As per the reports emanating from the Pind of Deols' back home, the Punjabis have congregated to Sahnewal, (which is the Pind from which Dharmendra had taken a train to land in Mumbai, more than fifty years ago), in droves to soak in the nostalgia of the moment.

Fans have walked across from far off places like Chandigarh, Jalandhar etc., to watch the movie in the descript cinema hall in Sahnewal to show their affirmation and approval for the Deol family. They could very well have seen the movie in the multiplexes in their respective homes, but they decide to pay tribute to Dharmendra's Punjabiyat by walking across to his village to see YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA. To add icing on the cake, the fans have even bought tickets in black to see the movie in the cinema hall in his native place.

Is it a fan following effect from down South that was demonstrated after release of ROBOT and subsequent media coverage by the electronic media, which could have been the trigger for the fans to do something of a similar kind for their own sons from the soil, Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol? Whatever it may be, it has once again underlined the fact that though a time gap of fifty years separate Dharmendra from his pind, his fans and friends still continue to wear their adulation for him on their sleeves. To commemorate the occasion a bust of Dharmendra was also made by one of the sculptors in his native town Ludhiana and the same is also drawing quite a lot of admiration from the fans.

YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA seems to have conquered Punjab one of the big territories, but the biggest channel for it would be create a similar euphoria in Mumbai and Gujarat circuit and then the film would only be declared a hit. Sunny Deol had in one of the publicity meetings for the film lamented that though the stars work with quite a lot of devotion on a film the audience seems not to appreciate it. Well, Sunny Deol need to understand that the audience appreciates good content, and it has demonstrated the same in Punjab for YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA, though it has been flavored with emotions, so he needs to strive for good content and the audience would never cold shoulder endeavor from his side hence forth.
