It indeed is surprising that while Bangalore is one of the most important emerging cities around the world, and such has been its impact at the international level that a word Banglored has entered into the lexicon (in context of the IT jobs shifting from US to India), Hindi cinema has not been that particularly endowed towards Bangalore as a destination for shooting the films. From this perspective it indeed is paradoxical. May be, the paradox of Bangalore not being a chosen city to shoot the films could have got something to do with the fact that it has become too crowded for organizing a shoot. Whatever being the case, it indeed is an opportune moment to run through some important films which were shot in Bangalore and which made the city famous internationally.
SHOLAY: The cult film of Hindi cinema SHOLAY was shot around Bangalore and made its rugged landscape famous as favorite destination for shooting scores of films; especially the climax films and notable famous films included QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK, LOHA etc. It was SHOLAY that really catapulted Bangalore into the psyche of the nation as a whole.
