Hairs indeed have been a very vital cog in the package of film stars; after all it is the hairstyles that have, evolved as a signature statement in the country. No wonder it is kept as a closely guarded secret. Take for that matter Shahrukh Khan, who is now sporting a hairstyle which is reminiscent more of the pop star Bob Marley, and now that the shooting of his yet to be released film DON 2  has been completed Shahrukh Khan has decided to popularize it. Another style that is much awaited is that of Ranbir Kapoor which he is going to sport in ROCKSTAR.

Indeed, it all boils down to a hair game for the male film stars. Take for example, the hairstyle that Hrithik Roshan displayed for GUZAARISH. In particular it has always been the growth of the hair that has been the talk of the town. Affair with the hair took its green shoots, with Dev Anand, and evolved into a fully grown tree with the hair style cultivated and displayed by Amitabh Bachchan. His was the longest innings for a hair style anywhere in the world perhaps. Were one to compare it with the styles shown by the actors in Hollywood, it would appear as a stark contrast that the stars do not bother at all about the hair styles for the film to deliver, if one were to leave aside Johnny Depp, of the PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN fame. Incidentally, Johnny Depp's style had an Indian touch as well, the kohl lining that he had used in his eyes were supplied by the Indian fashion company. So we Indians can be proud about the fact that the stylization of Depp was contributed by India as well, but how many of us are aware about it, is the moot question.

Coming back to the longish hairs, in recent times, after Big B it was the hair style that Salman Khan had displayed in TERE NAAM, which had become a talk of the time, and it was one of the most famous hair styles copied anywhere in recent times. It goes without saying, that it was the same hair style that Rahul Roy had popularized in AASHIQUE, which was given a new avatar by Salman Khan. He was followed by John Abraham, whose long hairs was a rage, and may be a time has come for him to experiment with his old hair style, as his close crop hairs are not doing any miracles for him at the box office.

Indeed, the long hairs though have been a style statement for a film; they have not been a contributory factor in success of a film. Can DON 2 and ROCKSTAR buck the trend, lets wait and watch.
