It indeed is one of the apparent paradoxes of Indian cinema or for that matter Indian society per se that if there is a character being played by him in a film and it has an element of rustiness associated with its name itself, as it was in ROCKSTAR where the transformation of the character or rather his acceptance into the high society only materializes when he changes the name. So when Janardhan Jakhar was renamed as Jordan, he immediately got acceptance into the high society. Indeed, the paradox becomes more so apparent considering the fact that those who portray the characters of high society have names that are as esoteric as one could think off, as it was Heer Kaul for the character played by Nargis Fakhri.

William Shakespeare may have written, "What's in a name", but for Hindi cinema in particular and Indian film industry in general it is the name that becomes bane and it has been happening for quite a long time. May be, as a ROCKSTAR to attain success an English name was a pre-requiem, but had the name been Jakhar, the success would have sweeter! After all, Ranbir Kapoor was hugely successful as ROCKET SINGH.

While the amazing character portrayal that Ranbir Kapoor has done once he transforms in Jordan has been talked about, what has not been written in detail is the character portrayed by Shammi Kapoor, and it indeed is one of his best performances, may be it would be one of those times when Shammi Kapoor gave such a restrained performance.

CHECK OUT: Ranbir: It is my good fortune to have done ROCKSTAR

But as he said in ROCKSTAR about the character played by Ranbir Kapoor that this man is not going to be bound by rules and regulations, he sort of blessed his grandson Ranbir Kapoor during the jamming scene which he enacted with Ranbir Kapoor. Shammi Kapoor's eyes were blessing the performance of his grandson Ranbir Kapoor, and indeed those blessings have made ROCKSTAR one of the most scintillating films to have made its debut at the box office in recent memory.

The magical moment for the film in terms of performance could be the scene were Ranbir Kapoor starts his fusion with guitar at the Nizamuddin dargah, and indeed the lessons that he took for playing guitar came in rather handy and at no point of time in ROCKSTAR it did appear as if the guitar was more of an ornament in his hand. Ranbir Kapoor has used it as his tool, and the passion with which he has held the tool throughout the movie indeed is going to spawn numerous other versions on the cinematic oeuvre in not so a distant future.
