He has recently been part of one of the biggest box-office successes. His act in the film 3 IDIOTS has made Sharman Joshi stand out in the crowd. The actor, who has touched a newer high with his last film, is looking forth to his next release TOH BAAT PAKKI opposite Tabu. This film assumes significance because Sharman is playing the solo lead in the film by all comparisons. We caught up with the actor about his success stories and about his expectations from his next film.

What does the success of 3 IDOTS mean to you in terms of your film career?
It means a lot honestly. I feel blessed to have been part of this successful film. The film has opened up some more doors for me and the choice of doing more films has also increased by virtue of this success.

After RANG DE BASANTI, GOLMAAL and METRO there was a period when you were not seen on screen. Or the few films that you did never had the big impact. Did it bother you then?
Of course, for every actor it is important to be in public memory. Thankfully the

success of my films like RDB, GOLMAAL and METRO had given me that recognition. But, I agree, there was a phase when some of the films didn't do well. For example my film SORRY BHAI. It was a wonderful film. But, it coincided with the Mumbai attacks. As an actor you feel vulnerable when your films don't do well, but then that's how this game functions for everyone.

Your successful films have always had an ensemble cast. Do you think you need to prove yourself in a solo role now?
I don't believe that I have to rush to prove myself as a solo hero. I am happy being part of the ensemble cast films since I believe it's your strength of the role that is important. I am not going to reject any ensemble cast films since for me my character is more important than the screen time he gets.

After 3 IDIOTS your next film TOH BAAT PAKKI is up for release. Tell us about your role in the film?
It's a very different role from my last film. I am sure the audiences are going to love it for its storyline. I play Yuvika's lover in the film and she ditches me and goes to another person because he is rich. I can't tell you more than this. You have to watch it to know who gets Yuvika in the end. Laughs.

Are you part of the upcoming sequel to GOLMAAL RETURNS?
To tell you frankly, I have not been approached so far. I would love to do that film if the producers decide to cast me.

People normally associate you with comic roles despite the fact that you have done some different roles too. Does that bother you?
Well, I am happy if the audiences love me in the comic roles. I need the love of the people no matter what it is for. I believe entertaining people is my job and if they remember me for my comic roles it's surely a compliment and nothing to be bothered about.
