'Remo D'Souza: Sonakshi Sinha could be the next Dancing Queen!'
Sonakshi Sinha is all set to turn the next dancing diva in Bollywood, thanks to her pricey number in TEVAR. While the actress is gearing up to sweep off the feet of one and all with her gyrations in the song 'Radha Nachegi', we, recently, caught up with the ace choreographer of Bollywood, Remo D'souza, whose moves could spell well for Sonakshi...
Is TEVAR slated to be one of your best 'item numbers' as a choreographer? I have done around more than 500 'item numbers'. As TEVAR happens to be one of my biggest songs, it's creating a lot of buzz and making one believe it to be one of my first. Secondly, the TEVAR song is not an 'item number', per se. It's just a plain Bollywood classical dancing number, a song on 'Radha and Krishna'. And not a raunchy piece.
'Sonakshi is female Akshay Kumar'
Your ideally known for hip-hop, how is it choreographing a song with classical steps? Since my name doesn't go with classical numbers, people don't connect with that image of mine and that's the biggest problem (laughs). Strangely, I have been doing that. In fact, recently I choreographed a classical song 'Humri Attariya' for Madhuri Dixit in DEDH ISHQIYA.
Can you tell us a bit about the song, which has been in the news? 'Radha Nachegi' is an Indo-Western fusion number. It is the biggest song with lots of dance and good music. We completed the song in five nights, that were scheduled in Indore. We had dancers from all over the world. It was fun and an amazing experience. We have just finished the song. It was not easy one. We shot in the freezing nights.
Why is there so much hype and hoopla around the song? The hype is because Sonakshi is doing something like this for the very first time. She will be seen doing a full-fledged dancing number onscreen for the first time. Moreover, her entire styling, the production and scale of the said song is extremely huge. Sonakshi has grooved nothing less than her seniors Madhuri and Sridevi, who used to be known as dancing divas in their times, in 'Radha Nachegi'. The way she has danced I believe with this, people should start recognizing her as Bollywood's next dancing queen.
Sonakshi Sinha has always been choreographed by the God of dancing Prabhudheva. How was it working with the actress? I always knew that Sona is a great dancer. She is very professional and particular about time and finishes her work with all dedication. She is like a female Akshay Kumar when it comes to punctuality and commitment. She did rigorous training for the song. I loved working with her. She is fabulous. Sonakshi has danced her heart out and this song should work.
'Sonakshi has danced her heart out'
TEVAR being the biggest and costliest song of your career, were you anxious about accepting it? No, on the contrary, I was very delighted when Boneyji called me up for this song. I was very happy and all the more willing to do it. Any song whether, small or big, I take it very positively. After Sonakshi, among the current crop of actresses who is next on your wish-list? I think, after Sonakshi I would want to choreograph for Deepika Padukone, as she is a very good dancer. She is probably next on my wish-list.
