All eyes are set on both the movie and the music of TA RA RUM PUM, the next biggie to arrive from the house of Yash Raj Films. While the movie has been confirmed for an April 27 release, there are no signs yet of the music arriving on stands.
Let aside the music being released, even the promos are not yet on air. What’s happening? “Don’t worry”, says cool as a cucumber Vishal Dadlani [of Vishal Shekhar duo], “YRF certainly know their job and if you check the trend of their movies especially in last 2-3 years, you would realize how they strategize the promotion and release of their product.”
But isn’t the music getting a little too delayed considering the fact that it is hardly a month to go for the film’s release? “I am least worried about it, seriously”, Vishal adds on, “Of what I know, the music arrives in the middle of first week of April and I am sure that in the weeks to follow the only screams that would be heard all over would be that of TRRP. YRF are masters when it comes to knowing how the market would behave and they would show their mastery once again here as well.”
So what is the composer duo doing currently apart from waiting for TRRP to arrive and gauge the reaction to the film? “As always being busy and enjoying while composing music”, quips Vishal, “We have all but wrapped up the music of Farah Khan’s OM SHANTI OM with 6 out of 7 numbers being canned.”
It has been months since one first heard about Vishal-Shekhar being roped in for the SRK film. Isn’t that a bit too late for the music to be reaching the finishing mark? Or has Farah proved to be a tough task master.
“No, not at all! The music has been composed in quite a cool manner. In fact it was great fun to be with Farah since she was quite honest and clear about what she wanted. There was some time duration in between when we couldn’t move forward since lyrics were needed from Javed Akhtar saab and he was away. But all said and done, there were no hassles the music is now on it’s way to be totally ready”, reaffirms Vishal.
Nevertheless 7 songs is still a big number in a film. Now would they be also falling into a ‘remix trap’ and make it a 14 song album by coming up with a remix of each? “Hopefully not”, laughs Vishal, “At least we are sure about not being the ones who would get in a studio to start working on the remixes.”
TASHAN is another biggie that VS duo has bagged from YRF. How is the work happening on that? “There are 5 tracks required in the film and we have finished composing 4 of them in a matter of 1 month. So that has been quite a decent pace, isn’t it so”, he questions!
One can’t help but ask an oft-repeated question before the conversation ends. What is happening on the Abhishek Bachchan album that is being devised for months now? Laughs Vishal, “No problems while asking that. It has been an interesting to and fro that is happening in the creation of this album. Ideas are continuously being bounced off from one end to another hence making it one fun creative exercise. Ek tarah ka paagalpan chal raha hai!”
And does he want to elaborate on what this madness is all about? “Think about it”, reveals Vishal, “while the basic essence of the album is hip-hop, there is also a Latino element in a song or two. And that’s not all. You would be surprised to know that there is also a ‘bhojpuri’ angle in one of the songs!”
Abhishek singing a ‘bhojpuri’ number? Now he must be kidding. “No, I am not. And that’s the reason I say ki ek paagalpan chal raha hai”, concludes Vishal.
