Mukta Music releases the music of the much-awaited film 'Kisna'
Subhash Ghai, A R Rahman, Ismail Darbar & Javed Akhtar join hands to create spectacular magic with the music of KISNA
Murnbai, December l0th 2004: Kisna is the latest cross-cultural film by 'the showman' Subhash Ghai. Set in North India in the late 1940's, it is an epic love story starring Vivek Oberoi, British actress Antonia Bernath and debutant Isha Sharvani. The stunning soundtrack is composed by two of India's best music directors A R Rahman and Ismail Darbar.
With an impressive track record in producing smash hit soundtracks including Khalnayak, Pardes and Taal amongst others, Subhash Ghai has now created another memorable album in Kisna. For the first time in his career he has collaborated with two of the greatest music composers of Indian cinema on one film - A R Rahman and Ismail Darbar. It is also the first time that these two composers have worked together.
Subhash Ghai was thrilled to work with such immense talent on his greatest project to date and describes the experience of working with these musical maestros as "fascinating, exciting and unique".
To add to this impressive line up, renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar has penned his magic once again with Kisna, which is his first project with Subhash Ghai, who describes the lyrics as "colourful and soulful".
Together these four musical geniuses have combined to produce an unforgettable musical score, which will undoubtedly gain international success and recognition.
Producing the music of Kisna has been an incredible journey for Subhash Ghai "The experience has been fascinating, exciting and unique and I must thank A R Rahman and Ismail Darbar for giving me their best in Kisna. And Javed Akhtar has further beautified the soul of my film through his lyrics. What more could a director ask for?"
Speaking on the music, A R Rahman comments "It has always been a pleasure to associate with Mr. Ghai on his projects. We started off with Taal, which went to become a huge musical hit & it was an absolute honor when Kisna - The Warrior Poet was offered to me. Working on the music of Kisna has been a creative challenge for me as well; Kisna being a period film the music was required to bring out the nuances of that era. Music has always played a very important role in all Subhash Ghai films right from Karz to Hero, Meri Jung to Karma; inspite of his musical acumen Mr. Ghai chose to give us the artistic freedom & the outcome has been phenomenal. Its extremely gratifying to have worked with Ismail Darbar whose compositions I have admired for a long time."
The fascinating musical journey of Kisna features 12 tracks. These include a combination of instrumental melodies and mantras composed by the talented duo. The mantras have been beautifully chanted by Vijay Prakash and chorus. Other distinguished artistes such as Udit Naravan, Sukhwinder Singh, Hariharan, Alka Yagnik and Ustad Rashid Khan amongst many others have contributed their vocal talents to the album. A R Rahman has also composed an English song for the soundtrack featuring Blaaze.
