Tanuja Chandra wraps up shooting of HOPE. in 35 days!
By Manisha Deshpande
Not every director can achieve the feat of completing a film in one schedule, more so if it involves taking an entire unit abroad, the cast is Indian and international and the film is a joint venture being jointly produced by foreign producers. But director Tanuja Chandra has done just that by wrapping up the entire shooting of her film, HOPE AND A LITTLE SUGAR in a schedule of 35 days in U.S.. "People who work for months together on coordinating dates, find it a bit difficult to believe but it was great working in the U.S. and finding out that things worked exactly as you had planned them out," says Tanuja.
The English film revolving around the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy that badly affected the Asians living in America, stars Mahima Chaudhary, Vikram Chatwal, Anupam Kher and others. What was more incredible was the fact that Tanuja signed and confirmed the deal with the American co-producers, Glenn Russow and Scott Pardo, on the net and met them for the first time, when she actually commenced shooting there. "It was an excellent collaboration with the New York based producers and I am considering more such films in the future. Moreover, the film gave me the freedom to experiment with creative skills which is not always possible in Hindi films," Tanuja recalls.
Tanuja is now planning to leave once again for the U.S. in January for the post-production of the film. HOPE AND A LITTLE SUGAR is being lined up for an international release in April 2005.
