Jackie Shroff's gesture towards a friend!
By Manisha Deshpande
Jackie Shroff's generosity and his contribution towards charitable causes is fairly known but few people know that the kind-hearted actor goes out of his way to help out friends and give them their due. Ask music director, Sujit Shetty, who has only recently struck a friendship with Jackie and has come to treasure it ever since. Shetty, who makes his debut as a full-fledged music director with Kushant Nandy's HUMDUM, bagged the film quite coincidentally when Jackie Shroff happened to sing one of his compositions to friends, Kushant being one of them. "Kushant liked the song that Jackie was humming and asked him about it after which he made me hear the script and signed me on after he listened to my compositions," Shetty reveals adding that the song Jackie was humming is one of his favorite compositions. "He is a great friend and has taken a fondness for my kind of music. He wants me to compose the music for his film some day," says the raring to go, music director, who has also been signed by John Matthan to compose a couple of songs for his Ajay-Shahid starrer.
Not many people are aware that Sujit is also a playback singer in his own right, who sung the 'Tujko Kya' number in Mukesh Bhatt's GHULAM. His first major music composition that won him a lot of critical acclaim was the album KHWABON MEIN for H.M.V., which was a chart topper when it was released two years ago.
Apart from this, Shetty is a celebrity in his own right, being the nephew of education minister, Suresh Shetty.
