After announcing the bad news that the monsoon this year may not arrive in some parts of the country, weathermen are not going to like this one.

Comedian-actor Jaspal Bhatti Wednesday pulled out a new one - this time burning the effigy of weathermen for wrong predictions about rainfall in the country.

The comedian said that he did the effigy-burning act to "please the rain gods" and to highlight the need to use weathermen in some other jobs.

"I am sure burning the effigy of the meteorological department will prove to be a good omen to control weather conditions in India."

He said all predictions of weathermen had gone wide off the mark with some parts of the country facing floods and others not having a single drop of rain this monsoon season.

Bhatti and other members of his Nonsense Club burned the effigy of weathermen in this city's commercial hub - Sector 17 - even as several amused shoppers were looking on in the scorching heat.

Bhatti dressed himself in a black gown with the skull and bones sign painted on the front as he took the role of a "tantrik" to please rain gods in traditional style.

A Hindu priest was at hand to recite prayers followed by improvised songs by the Nonsense Club members.

Bhatti set the effigy on fire amidst the performing of 'religious' rites.

He said when weather forecasts failed, it was the duty of the Nonsense Club to come up with indigenous scientific myths.
