National film awards' juries named

Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee will chair one of the three juries for the 51st national film awards for 2003, it was announced Monday.

Chatterjee will head the 17-member jury for the feature films category, one of the three for which awards will be given. The other categories are non-feature films and best writing on cinema.

The jury for feature films will also have directors Jyoti Sarup, N. Shankar and Makhonmani Mongsaba, actresses Sumalatha and V. Nirmala, producers Raj Datt, K.B. Tilak, N. Krishnakumar, Alaya Kumar Mohanty and Mohan Kondajji, music director Sher Choudhary, cameraman Virendra Saini, and film critics Madhu Jain, Rashmi Doraiswami, Gayatri Chatterjee and Shailaja Bajpai.

Award winning film producer-director Bhim Sen will chair the seven-member panel for the non-feature film category.

Its members will be national award winning film producers Jose Sebastian, Satyabrata Kalita, Haimanti Banerjee, Rajiv Khandagle and Anwar Jamal, and director N.S. Shankar.

Award winning filmmaker-writer K.N.T. Sastry will be the chairman of the three-member jury for picking the best writing on cinema. Film critic Kodalli Shivaram and national award winning writer Aruna Anant Damle will be the members.
