'I am not making a sex film', protests Ekta Kapoor
By Subhash K. Jha, IANS
Television tycoon Ekta Kapoor is going great guns with plans for a new fiction show on MTV and a feature film starring brother Tusshar Kapoor, which she clarifies is not a "sex film" but a "sex comedy".
Ekta, who celebrated her 28th birthday earlier this week, also launched "Kya Kool Hain Hum" the same morning.
"It's not a sex film as has been reported in the press, though if I have to make one of those for my company I wouldn't mind. But 'Kya Kool Hain Hum' is actually a sex comedy and not a sex film. There's a big difference."
The film, starring Ritesh Deshmukh alongside Tusshar, will be directed by Sangeeth Sivan, brother of cinematographer-filmmaker Santosh Sivan (who incidentally is busy making "Navras", a film on the life of transvestites).
And no matter what her detractors might have to say, her shows continue to dominate the airwaves with her latest afternoon daily "Kesar" on Star Plus again a winner.
Ekta is also busy supervising plans for her next television project -- a fiction programme for MTV! It's a first with the music channel never having shown a fiction programme before.
"The MTV serial will be called 'Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi'. It will basically be the story of three small town girls from Nagpur following their dreams in Mumbai," Ekta told IANS excitedly.
Auditions for the main cast of the serial begin this month.
"We'll be looking at faces in seven major cities across India. The idea is to let all the wannabes of the country know they can become stars... just like the three girls in my serial for MTV," said the birthday girl who was flooded with congratulatory calls Monday.
But Ekta wasn't in Mumbai to bring in her birthday. She was out visiting her favourite temple the whole night.
"Not asking god for anything more -- what more can I ask for -- but to thank him for what he has already given me."
