Director Kaizad Gustad and his film crew member Ashish Udeshi were Wednesday arrested in connection with the death of British Pakistani Nadia Khan.
Mumbai Central Railway Police arrested the two over a week after Khan, 27, who was assisting Gustad on the film "Mumbai Central", died during shooting May 25.
Initially, the film crew said Khan was hit by a truck, but eventually Gustad as well as others confessed that she was knocked down by a train at the Mahalaxmi station.
Gustad and line producer Udeshi will be produced before the Railway Magistrate. Police will plead for their remand.
Ramdas Mhatre, senior police inspector at the Mumbai Central Railway Police, said, "We have arrested them for misleading the police, making false complaints and misusing the permission granted to them."
"We shall be producing copies of the complaint registered by Ashish Udeshi at the Tardeo police station and the medical details from Nair Hospital as evidence," said Mhatre.
A railway official had earlier said Gustad was shooting near the fast line to Churchgate, a heavy density track, in contravention to railway rules.
Immediately after the accident, Udeshi had rushed Khan to the Nair Hospital in Gustad's car. The hospital authorities were told a truck had hit her, police said.
She was first admitted to the casualty ward and then the surgical ward before being declared dead by a doctor.
Udeshi registered a similar complaint with the Tardeo police station, stating that a truck in Mahalaxmi knocked down Khan.
