'Hum Tum' aur Saif
‘Hum Tum’ is the latest flick on the block that will see Saif Ali Khan in an unusual role. Saif will play the role of a cartoon columnist, and if you read the Bombay times daily, you will get a picture of Saif’s character. Son of Tiger Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore, this junior Pautadi has got a role of a lifetime. Produced under Yashraj films, Saif’s ladylove in the film is played by Bengali siren Rani Mukherje. This is the first time that Rani and Saif will feature together in a film. Saif made a successful comeback to films with Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. And after that, there was no stopping Saif Ali Khan. Being in the ‘limelight’, after a long hiatus has done some good to Saif’s image as Star. He is only one step away from being a super-star. Although his comeback has been widely appreciated, this is the first film (since his comeback) that Saif will have no other male co-stars.
In all the hit films that Saif has featured in recently as well as in the past (Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, Yeh Dillagi, Kal Ho Na Ho, Biwi No.1, Main Khiladi Tu Anadi and Dil Chahta Hai), Saif has always shared the silver screen with other male co-stars. Every time Saif has tried to carry a film on his shoulders, it has been a flop. Even in average films like ‘Kya Kehna’ and ‘Ek Haseena Thi’, the weight age has been more to the heroines, namely, Preity Zinta and Urmila Matondkar. ‘Hum Tum’ will give Saif the opportunity to prove that he can carry an entire film on his shoulders. That is probably the reason why ‘Hum Tum’ is one of the most awaited films this summer.
