"PRAY FOR INDIA", SAY PANKAJ UDHAS & JOHNY LEVER
A new album going on the racks is Pray For India (P4I). The lyrics of the melodious yet zesty title track, P4I go: "Tera India, Mera India, Apna India, Pray for India" This song brings together Pankaj Udhas' velvet voice, with the singer-composer and producer of the album Anil Kant and star comic Johny Lever. This is the first time ever that Johny Lever is actually singing for an album. Also making her debut with this song is Sherya Kant, who is being presented this wonderful platform by her father Anil Kant, who adds that she's already working on her next album.
Ask Anil Kant why the title song brings together such different talents as Pankaj Udhas and Johny Lever, he replies: "This album and the title song are a symbol of fun, comedy and prayer; I want that people see prayer not only as a spiritual experience but also as a happy time. Pankaj Udhas stands for seriousness, Johny Lever for fun and I symbolize the spiritual, I have done three other albums, all spiritual, before this ." He adds that Jagjit Singh also features in the album with three songs.
P4I is set to a bhangra beat and picturised as a bold, but a fun-filled video, Anil Kant and Johny Lever feature in the music video of the of the title song along with other artistes. The video shows that prayer is 'cool'. People, especially the youngsters are not only interested in partying and 'masti', but they do believe in 'One True God' and are above the divisions of religions. It is a song that will bring the people of India together, forgetting all divisions and praying earnestly but in a fun way. God is a God of celebration and God loves happy people.
What prompted Anil Kant in to writing, composing and producing an album like Pray 4 India is to show people "that with pop music how be close to god, loyal to your country, break down division of caste, etc. Hence I came up with this values based album, which shows the goodness of love, forgiveness, prayer and one god."
Anil Kant's company Trinity Sounds produces the album. The latter have already produced a number of spiritual albums. And the video has been made by Vimal Oberoi's Collective Efforts
