WOUNDED - Real Story, Real Heroine
Shree Hari Om Films, Mumbai is proud to announce the successful completion its maiden venture 'Wounded'. Under the direction of Krishna Mishra, the film is based on a true story of real life dacoit Seema Parihar. While several films have been made on the lives of dacoits in the past, what sets this film apart is that Seema Parihar herself has acted in the film, thus making history in the world of cinema.
Born and brought up in a poor Thakur family, Seema Parihar used to breed cattle in her childhood days. At the age of 13, she was kidnapped (in 1983) from her ancestral village of Bawine (district Ithawa, UP) by dacoits Lalaram and Kusuma Nian gangs. She underwent a lot of mental, physical and social trauma while in captivity, which forced her to turn a dacoit herself. After the surrender of Bandit Queen Phoolandevi, Seema Parihar spread terror in and around the jungle of Bihand for almost 18 years. She surrendered in front of the UP police in the year 2000.
Inspired by her life story, director Krishna Mishra approached Seema Parihar in the jail with the idea of making a film about 2 years ago. But Seema was charge sheeted in 36 cases and it was impossible for her to come out from the jail. However Krishna Mishra was determined to make a film on her life with she herself playing the character. Hence he approached the Allahabad High Court for permission to shoot with her. The Court granted permission to make the film under strict police observation.
Wounded has been shoot on real locations in the village of Seema Parihar and in those areas, which once were terrorized by her. Several people who were associated with Seema during her days as a dacoit have also participated in the shoot, thus giving the film a realistic look. The film has been made in Hindi and will have English subtitles to cater to international audience. The film is expected to release in November 2004.
