Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav WallpapersA senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Jharkhand has announced the making of a documentary film to "expose" Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's alleged involvement in the multibillion-rupee fodder scam.

BJP leader Saryu Rai said the documentary on Lalu Prasad would be formally announced Oct 11 and would be called "Chor Machaye Shor".

The announcement of the film comes close on the heels of the railway minister doing a bit part in a Bollywood film "Padmasree Laloo Prasad Yadav".

Lalu Prasad's alleged links with the fodder scam had forced him to quit as Bihar chief minister in 1997.

Rai, announcing he would write the script for the film, said the work would incorporate the experiences of investigators in the case,
mediapersons covering the proceedings and petitioners in the case.

"We have discussed the subject and some of them have consented to openly come on camera and speak the truth while some will help from behind the screen in developing the film," Rai said.

Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav WallpapersRai said the film aims to expose politicians, bureaucrats and other people alleged to be beneficiaries of the scam.

The multibillion-rupee scam involving the alleged misappropriation of government funds surfaced in 1996 and the CBI filed 61 cases with Lalu Prasad made accused in five cases. Some of the cases are at the trial stage.

According to Rai, the hour-long film would be divided into three parts. The first part would cover the period from 1972 to 1990 "when the seeds of the scam were sown and money swindled from the treasuries".

The second part would cover 1990-2000 when "the scam was at its peak and high-profile people including politicians were sent to jail".

Rai said the third part, from the year 2000 onwards, would show how "the trial of the cases is going and how it is being influenced by politicians".

The documentary, which would also have cartoons, would be shot in Ranchi, Patna and Delhi.

Rai said he planned to seek permission from the Bihar government to take pictures of the chief minister's residence.

The film may be shown in February when assembly elections are slated to be held in Bihar and Jharkhand, he said.
