I.M.P.P.A members plan no-confidence motion against Shiromani
By Manisha Deshpande
The members of I.M.P.P.A. will call for an Extraordinary General Meeting to pass a no-confidence motion against the newly elected, I.M.P.P.A. Chairperson, Sushma Shiromani. "We have no faith in the newly elected committee and its chairperson, and the manner in which they were elected to power," says K.D. Shorey, ex-Senior Vice-President of I.M.P.P.A. and Executive committee member. According to Shorey, Article 30 of the I.M.P.P.A. constitution clearly states that 10 percent of the members can call such a meeting.
Shorey has also strongly criticized Shiromani's recent remarks on a satellite channel in which she said that she would use muscle power to curb the problem of piracy. "The remark was shocking to say the least and it was made without the confidence of any of the committee members. It is surprising that such a chairperson of a responsible association makes such remarks," he said.
It may be recalled that Shiromani was recently elected Chairperson of I.M.P.P.A. after an election, which was ridden with controversy and reports of producers stealthily crossing over from A.M.P.T.P.P..
